This is the time of year our Young Men and Women, Young Single Adults, and even some regular adults return home from school looking for full-time employment, summer jobs, or internships. If you know any of these individuals please help them by giving them this information. Their best resource to start with is exploring www.LDSJobs.org. This website not only has hundreds of jobs, it also has valuable information at the bottom of the home page to help guide individuals toward their new jobs and careers.
Even though we have hundreds of jobs on our website, these jobs will never be more valuable than the networking resources in our own stakes and wards.
We strongly encourage everyone looking for new or better employment to speak up at priesthood and Relief Society meetings and let everyone know you are looking for work, what your work experience is, and how they can help. Stake and Ward Council meetings are also great venues for Church leaders to discuss specific job seekers and their individual needs. There are 2 items on the website to help you, which are “must reads” for any job seeker. They are handouts called “Me in 30 Seconds” and “Effective Networking.” A good “Me in 30 Seconds” summary can help individuals present themselves confidently to employers and at church meetings. The brief verbal resumes described in the “Me in 30 Seconds” handout also helps individuals prepare for the “Tell me about yourself?” question all employers will ask. The “Effective Networking” handout is essential to guiding individuals in exploring how and who to network with.
As always, the Regional and your Stake Employment Center staffs are ready to help. Just call either 1-858-279-2338 or toll free 1-866-837-1537 to schedule an appointment to discuss your job search.
Brother Kirk W. Draper, Regional Manager, LDS Employment Resource Services, Serving leaders, members and friends of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints throughout Imperial, Riverside, San Bernardino, and San Diego Counties,
